Welcome to Nova Scotia!
While most people have Lobsters and fishing come to mind while thinking about Nova Scotia, we have other thoughts. Nova Scotia for me has some of the most accessible coast lines for enjoying long exposure photography. From large cliff edges, to flat or jagged rock outcrops you can capture the slap of the high tide surf pounding into some beautiful locations. This my friends equals a playground for big kids with camera's! Our trip is designed so that our morning and evening shoots give you the chance to photograph some of the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets Canada has to offer. Scouting these locations over the past 4 years has allowed us to keep busy during the day while giving us ample time to sit and relax at the end of the day to enjoy the most epic sunsets.
During our trip we will take you to some of the largest fishing wharf's in the province. These areas offer an abundance of photographic opportunities!! In most locations brake walls calm the harbor water to offer amazing reflections to make those perfect mirror images. Many clients have walked away with award winning images from these locations for their photography clubs and online entries.
One of the best parts of the trip is visiting the old iconic fishing villages. These areas can be very colorful and well maintained. The fresh salty ocean air offers a harsh yearly environment for buildings on the waters edge, so an annual coat of paint keeps these buildings looking fresh and rejuvenated. Others start to look run down and very rustic creating some of the best locations to create dramatic black and white images or try some HDR.
And last but not least we get to visit some of the best lighthouses Canada still has to offer. These beauties not only offer a perfect foreground element to our images, but still actively aid in sailors finding their way home in the night. Did you know every lighthouse light spins at a different speed so sailors can determine their locations? Or colored light is used to warn of dangerous conditions or shallow waters? These are all things we will learn while we are at these locations. If you are not scared of heights or tight places we welcome you at some locations to climb the stairs right to the top and enjoy some of the best un obstructed ocean side views.
